Die Frage, ob es positive Zusammenhänge zwischen dem ökonomischen Unternehmenserfolg und dem Anteil von Frauen in Topführungspositionen gibt, wie stark ein solcher Zusammenhang ausfällt und wovon er abhängt, steht seit einigen Jahren zunehmend im Mittelpunkt nicht nur gleichstellungs-, sondern auch wirtschaftspolitischer Diskussionen.
Es gibt einen robusten positiv signifikanten Performance-Effekt von Frauen in Aufsichtsräten bei allen Unternehmen, die bestimmte Unternehmenseigenschaften aufweisen.
Der Effekt konnte konkret für zwei Charakteristika unabhängig voneinander nachgewiesen werden: Positive Performance-Wirkungen von Frauen in Aufsichtsräten zeigen sich erstens signifikant und robust für Unter nehmen mit hohem Frauenanteil unter den Gesamtbeschäftigten. Zweitens zeigt sich ein positiver Effekt für Unternehmen, die ihre Produkte und Leistungen vorwiegend an private Kundinnen und Kunden verkaufen (B2C-Geschäft).
Die Untersuchung wurde vom Institut für Unternehmensführung am Karlsruher Insti tut für Technologie (Prof. Dr. Hagen Lindstädt) und dem Lehrstuhl für Corpo rate Governance der Universität Mainz (Prof. Dr. Michael Wolff) im Auftrag des Bundesm inisteriums für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend durchgeführt.
