Trading Idea

Disciplined stock-picking in high-quality French equities. Focused on resilient balance sheets, low drawdown risk, valuation mean reversion and long-term compounding. This portfolio aims for long-term market outperformance by combining a rigorous stock-picking methodology with strict capital protection. For each position, the investment thesis and expected outperformance vs. MSCI World index are designed to materialize within a maximum 3-year timeline, though high-quality businesses may be held for 5 years or longer to fully capture long-term compounding. The strategy actively avoids chasing risk for short-term gain, focusing instead on shielding the portfolio against permanent capital loss as the foundation for long-term growth. The strategy seeks to exploit the gap between short-term market sentiment and long-term business fundamentals. Markets can overreact to short-term uncertainty. I believe that the combination of valuation mean reversion and the long-term compounding of high-quality businesses provides a potential source of attractive returns. The investment universe primarily consists of French-listed companies, where I believe my knowledge and analytical edge are strongest. Nevertheless, opportunities outside France may be pursued whenever they meet the same demanding standards of quality, financial strength and valuation. Preference is given to resilient companies with strong balance sheets and durable competitive advantages. When applicable, sustainable dividends supported by conservative payout ratios (ideally below 70%) are considered an additional strength, as they allow the portfolio to continue generating cash flow even during prolonged market downturns. Cash is considered a legitimate investment whenever no company meets the required standards of business quality, financial strength and valuation. However, such situations are expected to be uncommon, and the portfolio is intended to remain close to fully invested under normal market conditions.
