Fear of Missing Out: Buying when prices rise

# Name Performance 7 days bought in this wikifolio, among others
1 Coinbase 4,9% Techwerte Invest
2 Knaus Tabbert 0,1% Trendfolge&Trading
3 Funkwerk 6,4% GroDiVal TrendInvest
4 Bitcoin Group 16,9% Goldesel-Trading
5 Celldex Therapeutics 5,3% High Tech Trader

The "Fear of Missing Out" – FOMO for short – leads traders to buy stocks whose price has already risen significantly. This trading motive can currently be observed with Coinbase. After its turbulent stock market start in April – a peak valuation was followed by a flash crash in the first trading days – the crypto trading platform's stock has picked up significantly in recent weeks. Making the trader community happy. Thorsten Mosel (coblenztrade), e.g., comments as follows: "Coinbase is currently back in the green. So far, the stock's performance has not been encouraging, but I am optimistic about the future." In his wikifolio Leitwolf Multi Konzept, the stock currently holds the third-largest portfolio position with a weighting of 6.1 percent.

Buying the Dip: Buys when prices fall

# Name Performance 7 days bought in this wikifolio, among others
1 elumeo -0,4% Refresh
2 Lucid Group -6,0% BIO x KLIMA x UMWELT x FAIR
3 Crocs -5,2% Techwerte Invest
4 Ping An Insurance -2,0% Profitieren vom demographischen Wandel
5 Domo -6,9% HighGrowthInvestments

The "buying the dip" trading motive is evident when traders buy falling stocks in the hope of a bottoming out – in other words, the imminent turnaround. The stock of the German jewelry mail order company elumeo did not fall significantly in the last trading week, but a price correction has been observed since the end of June. Now, many traders seem to think again that the share is fairly valued.

Taking Profit: Selling when prices are rising

# Name Performance 7 days sold in this wikifolio, among others
1 Adva 0,2% Growth Investing Europa + USA
2 Moderna 12,0% Robotics, Automation, Smart Home
3 McPhy Energy 5,6% Riu Trading
4 Alibaba (ADR) 4,2% firstclass stock picking
5 InTiCa Systems 3,6% Germany smaller

The "taking profit " motive – i.e. selling when prices are rising – could be observed last week above all with the German telecommunications equipment manufacturer Adva Optical Networking. Traders are currently selling the fiber optics specialist's stock at its multi-year high, after the security performed at more than one hundred percent plus over the year. The main reason for the stock price gains last week was the leaking of a takeover bid by the U.S. group Adtran. It wants to merge with Adva to form the company "HoldCo".

Jumping the Ship: Selling when prices are falling

Selling when prices are falling – this is what characterizes the "Jumping the Ship" category. Last week, this fate befell the German building materials group Sto. Trader Lennart Marxen (Moneyboxer), who has weighted the share with 5.6 percent in his wikifolio Smart Selection – Green, knows the reason for the sells and the price losses: "The sales development is good, but the result cannot keep up due to higher raw material prices. The market is reacting negatively."
